Spinning Class

This is a two day beginning spinning course held at Arthurdale on August 21st and 28th from 11 AM to 4
PM each day taught by Linda Flemmer. This class is appropriate for ages 16-99. Class size is limited to 4
people to allow for individual attention. No prior experience is required.
Day 1 – Learn to hand process a raw fleece, including inspecting and “skirting” it, and washing it. Practice
basics of spinning on a wheel with prepared wool provided for the students.
Day 2 – Card your wool washed on day 1 and make your own yarn from your washed fleece and mill
prepared wool. Ply your singles to make a finished yarn.
Spinning wheels will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own wheels after discussion
with the instructor. Raw fleece and a variety of mill-prepared wool will be provided.
Students should provide two 5 gallon buckets, a bath towel,, a kniddy knoddy, and hand carders (if you
have carders).. Instructions for a home made PVC kniddy knoddy can be provided.
Microwave and refrigerator are available if you bring your own lunch. There are limited take out
restaurants approx 3 miles away.
Cost is $250 for this two day course.
