Kenneth Kidd

Executive Director

Kenneth's Bio

Kenneth (Kenny) Kidd is the Executive Director of Arthurdale Heritage since August 2024. He comes to Arthurdale with 25 years of experience in community development and non-profit management. A Kanawha County, West Virginia, native, Kenny has a Bachelor of Science in Community Planning and Geography with a minor in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He obtained a Master of Social Work degree from West Virginia University in 2002 and in the years since has used his skills in non-profit service, development, and management for organizations with both an international and national reach. "I first fell in love with the people and history of Arthurdale as a graduate student in 1999 when I was welcomed as the first student caretaker of the E-15 Homestead House," he shares. The 2 years he lived in E-15, coupled with the love and warmth he felt from the community, inspired him to buy a home in Preston County when his work went remote in 2020. He currently resides in Kingwood and is a member of St. Mary Eastern Orthodox Christian Church in Westover. He looks forward to working alongside everyone across the Arthurdale community as the impact of the important work of AHI continues to grow.

Elizabeth Satterfield

Curator and Director of Education

Elizabeth's Bio

Elizabeth grew up exploring historic sites and natural wonders throughout the Mountain State of West Virginia. These trips instilled a deep love and appreciation in her for the history and people of West Virginia. Elizabeth grew up near Independence just ten miles away from Arthurdale. In college, she pursued a BA in history at West Virginia University, then went on to receive dual Master's in Public History and Public Administration from WVU in 2021. As our Curator and Director of Education, Elizabeth creates new exhibitions, manages and digitizes the archival collection, and expands educational programming. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time outdoors, working on her family's small farm, and playing with her cats Clarice, Sylvie, and Molly.

Tabatha Bottini

Director of E-Commerce and Marketing

Tabatha's Bio

After attending West Virginia University for a BFA in Art and Design, Tabatha's passion for design took a backseat to her love for animals. She began her career at a local veterinary clinic, where she focused on administrative management for 7 years. During this period, she honed various skills including HR, recruitment, training, and account management. Alongside her work in the veterinary field, she dedicated her spare time to establishing her own e-commerce business, leading her to her current position as the Director of E-Commerce & Marketing at Arthurdale Heritage. With a strong connection to Appalachia, Arthurdale perfectly resonates with Tabatha's values and passions. Being part of "The Nation's First New Deal Community" has created an ideal setting for her professional growth, and she's excited to contribute to the ongoing progress and recognition of the historic town of Arthurdale every day.

Mary Linscheid

Appalachian Programs Coordinator

Mary's Bio

An 8th generation West Virginian from just outside of Morgantown, WV, Mary grew up with a deep connection to West Virginia’s land and people. She holds a B.A. in English and minors in Appalachian Music and Appalachian Studies from West Virginia University. Mary has dedicated herself to learning and participating in Appalachian traditions and can often be found playing fiddle or wildcrafting herbs for plant medicine.

Jillian Kendall

Graduate Assistant

Jillian's Bio

A West Virginia native, Jillian was raised in both Huntington and Charleston, WV, but also lived for several years in her mother’s hometown of Eleanor, WV – another New Deal Homestead. She holds a B.A. in Biology from Berea College but has since decided to change course and pursue her lifelong passion for history. Now working toward an M.A. in Public History from West Virginia University, in her spare time Jillian enjoys cooking, thrifting, restoring vintage Barbies, and spending time with her cats Milo, Harvey, and Trixie.

Ethan Wimer

PreserveWV AmeriCorps Member

Ethan's Bio

Ethan is an Arthurdale native who received a bachelors in environmental sciences while attending West Virginia University. While pursuing his degree, Ethan conducted and presented research on Acid Mine Drainage and Soil Compaction-issues common in West Virginia- and working with local organizations to clean the streams and trails in his home county. Ethan joined the Arthurdale Heritage as an AmeriCorps member, and hopes to gain new experience helping manage a museum and event center in his home town. Ethan enjoys hiking, climbing, caving and playing guitar in his free time.

The Arthurdale Heritage Board of Directors is comprised of up to fifteen members elected by the AHI membership for a three-year term. Terms run from October to September annually. We are always looking for more people with vision and enthusiasm for the history of Arthurdale to serve on the Board of Directors.
