Fixing the Forge Windows

A major facet of Arthurdale Heritage’s mission is to restore and preserve Arthurdale’s historic buildings. Our AmeriCorps member, Mary Linscheid, recently organized a volunteer workday to restore the windows in Arthurdale’s historic blacksmiths’ forge. With a group of volunteers from Preservation Alliance of West Virginia AmeriCorps and the local community, they removed the old glazing, replaced broken glass panes, scraped away the old paint, and reglazed the eight forge windows. Jeff Zinn helped with the removal and reinstallation of the windows as well.

Arthurdale Heritage would like to send out a huge thanks to all those who helped with this project, including local business such as Sunbelt Rentals and PPG Paints Store in Fairmont, WV, who donated a wallpaper steamer and a gallon of paint towards the project! Thanks also to Preservation Alliance of West Virginia for donating putty knives, window glazing, and other necessary items!
