Arthurdale was recently selected to participate in the Smithsonian Program Coming Home: Stories from Main Street. We were one of only 11 sites across the country selected, and we are excited to be working with West Preston’s Service Club and After School Explorers on this program!
Children will study storytelling over the course of the semester and will create short videos about their community, its history, and issues it is facing today. Shown here, AmeriCorps member Kendyl Bostic reads Cynthia Rylant’s “When I Was Young in the Mountains” as part of the first lesson.
We are very thankful to all our donors who help us do work in the community! If you would like to support our educational programming, you can do so via our secure website: https://arthurdaleheritage.org/giving/ or via Facebook.
