Appalachia on the Screen- “Harlan County, USA”

Join us on November 4th at 7 pm for a showing of Harlan County, USA!
Harlan County, USA is a 1976 American documentary about the “Brookside Strike,” a 1973 strike about the efforts of 180 coal miners and their wives against the Duke Power Company in Harlan County, Kentucky.
Following the showing there will be a discussion led by Dr. Hal Gorby. Dr. Gorby is a professor at WVU with interests in labor, the role of immigrants in industry in the late 19th and early 20th century, and the political economy in West Virginia.
